Sparling
shares tips for award winning Public Relations
Daytona Beach--The
Volusia/Flagler Chapter of the Florida Public Relations
Association held their monthly meeting on Feb. 10 at
Buca di Beppo in Daytona Beach. Suzanne Sparling, APR,
immediate past president for FPRA's state association,
shared some tips and tactics for successful public
relations planning. The February meeting was attended by
more than thirty PR professionals, students and guests.
Sparling is an accredited public relations
professional with more than 16 years of experience and
currently Vice President of Investor Relations for the
Brevard County United Way.
Her presentation
focused on the critical elements of award winning public
relations work, specifically FPRA’s coveted Image
Awards. “The submission of a public relations project
for the Image Awards is your time to shine and prove
your value,” said Sparling. Every submission should
contain the key elements of research, planning,
implementation and evaluation. “It’s all about R.P.I.E.”
she said. Research should be simple, and can be primary
or secondary, but well-documented. Planning should
include defined goals and objectives that are specific
and measurable. The implementation segment is a chance
to showcase your project and display the tools used to
accomplish the objective. Finally, the evaluation phase
is where you look back at your goals and critique your
project.
Following a lively and informative
question and answer period, Sparling said, “You are
challenged to go forth with your new-found knowledge;
dazzle the judges; and bring home the gold!
