Unlock Executive Media Mastery: Media Training for the C-Suite

Join the Volusia/Flagler Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA) at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, April 18 to elevate your media communication skills to the level.

Navigating the media landscape is a crucial skill for any executive, but mastering it doesn't come automatically with the title. This month, we're offering an essential workshop aimed at executives and PR professionals tasked with preparing their C-suite executives for media interactions. Whether you're training a CEO, CFO, or any leadership role beginning with "C", this workshop is designed to elevate your training techniques to new heights.

Participants will learn from Joel Staley, owner and founder of JCS Communications, LLC, Orlando. As a multilingual public relations professional with more than 25 years of experience, Joel Staley is an expert at training C-suite executives and brand spokespersons to deliver effective media interviews, public speeches and sales presentations. Staley, a 2016 Public Relations Society of America Florida Radiance Award winner, worked as senior vice president of brand and external communications for Seacoast Bank, as a public relations director for Walt Disney Parks & Resorts and as an account leader for global public relations firms Edelmanand Burson Cohn & Wolfe. He graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Arts in public relations and attended DeLand High School.

Media Day 2023, with Keynote Speaker, Claire Metz

Join the Volusia/Flagler Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA) for an exciting mini-conference known as MEDIA DAY! Media Day is a half-day event featuring an impressive lineup of media personalities from the area as well as the legendary news reporter, Claire Metz as the keynote speaker.

This professional development event will be held at Volusia County Beach Safety Headquarters (515 S. Atlantic Ave, Daytona Beach) on Thursday, November 9, 8:00am - 12:30pm.

Check-in will begin at 8:00am.

Breakfast and networking 8:00am - 9:00am.

Program held from 9:00am - 12:00pm

Live rescue scenario presented by Volusia County Beach Safety 12:00pm - 12:30pm

Fall Networking Social & Board Installation Social

Join the Volusia/Flagler Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA) for a fall networking social at Copperline Coffee + Café in Port Orange. This social will take place at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 28.

The Copperline Coffee + Cafe venue in Port Orange will provide a fitting backdrop for the “Celebrating the New Year” Social and will include coffee tastings to symbolize the embracing of a new year with renewed energy.

Attendees will have the opportunity to meet Wendy Crites Wacker, the new FPRA State President as well as the incoming Board of Directors for the Volusia/Flagler Chapter. Wendy will hold a board induction as well as share her vision and goals for the 2023-2024 year.

The Volusia/Flagler Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA) will welcome Heather Files, Executive Director of the Halifax Historical Society Museum as the guest speaker at their October professional development luncheon. This meeting will be held on Thursday, October 20 at 11:30 a.m. in the Dennis McGee Room at the Daytona Beach International Airport.

Files started with the Museum in 2020 and currently serves as the Executive Director and will talk on the topic, “Rebranding Strategies: Updating Your Company without Losing Your Audience.” Prior to the Halifax Historical Society, Files worked in the food service industry, specifically fine dining for many years.

The Halifax Historical Society was founded in 1949 to gather, preserve, and present the history of the Halifax River area to educate the public. The museum's permanent exhibits showcase the history of the greater Daytona Beach area, from Ormond Beach through Ponce Inlet and Port Orange (known as the Halifax Area, after our river), the museum’s timeline begins with artifacts dating from 2,500 to 5,000 B.C.E.

Join us at the Tortugas Bullpen - reserved just for FPRA families, friends and guests - Sunday, July 10 at Jackie Robinson Ballpark. Gates open at 4:30 p.m., opening pitch will be at 5:30 p.m. and a buffet will be served from 4:30 - 6 p.m..

As a membership perk, the chapter is paying for much of the ticket cost so you can enjoy the game at a greatly reduced rate, but tickets must be purchased in advance through our chapter.

Ticket costs are $10 for members, $25 for non-member adult guests, and $20 for children. The cost includes admission; reserved seating; a buffet of hot dogs, hamburgers, pulled pork, baked beans, coleslaw, chips and cookies; Pepsi products and a water station. Attendees are responsible for parking and any alcohol purchase.
